If you‘ve been on TikTok, you’ve probably seen a few hit stories from women who did Vabbing and successfully attracted a potential lover. Can this be true? Or is it just another courageous act to feel more confident?
What is Vabbing?
Vabbing (‘vagina’ + ‘dabbing’) is strategically dabbing vaginal fluid or secretions on key areas of your body (e.g., behind your ears and on your wrists) to attract others.
What does the research say?
“There’s absolutely no data proving that this (vabbing) would work” – Felice Gersh, MD, OB/GYN
Data suggest that pheromones in vaginal secretions do draw potential mates to you. Though most studies on pheromones and mating behavior have been done on animals, there is no reason to doubt that similar results would present in humans, according to Dr. Gersh.
What’s the psychological reason behind this?
Women feel more empowered because vabbing creates a placebo effect that makes them project confidence and sexuality that attracts a mate.
“You interact differently with people. You’re more flirtatious.‘”
– Tracey Cox, Sex and Relationship expert
As sexologist Shan Boodram concludes in a Refinery29 article, “Regardless of if the vaginal pheromones truly make a person irresistible or not, the fact that you think it does will cause you to act in a bolder, more confident manner.”
The lack of evidence to support the controversial success of Vabbing leads us to think that perhaps the secret to a woman’s search for a partner isn’t by Vabbing but by believing that she will.
