A Safe Person has these 5 traits: Do you have one of these?

Jul 15, 2022 | Safe Space, Self-development, Self-Help

On the days we feel down, sometimes all we need is a person who will hold us and tell us everything will be okay.

We find a “safe space” in our family members, friends, loved ones, and maybe in our pets! They are the ones who are there for us unconditionally when life gets tough.

A Safe Person

Do you have someone in your life who makes you feel safe? A “safe space” person often portrays these qualities!

They speak with gentle honesty.

We love it when someone can give us the advice we need without having to be so hurtful. A safe person never candy-coats the truth but will always choose to be gentle and kind rather than aggressive and rude.

 They listen without judgment.

A person who passes on criticism while you open up is the first sign of someone you must never run to during times of crisis! Remember that a safe person will understand your burden and tell you that your emotions are valid.

They cultivate patience.

Don’t we hate it when people pressure us to reveal intimate details about ourselves too soon? Find comfort in the people who respect your space and are patient enough to wait for you to talk at the right time.

They welcome vulnerability and openness.

The last thing we need when feeling on the low is someone who makes us feel the need to hide parts of ourselves. A safe person will welcome your emotions and encourage your vulnerability no matter what!

They encourage growth and self-awareness.

Your “safe space” person will encourage your growth, perhaps even push you towards conquering what is right to do in times of trouble. These are the people you need!

Be someone’s safe space today!

Often, we find ourselves craving the presence of a select few who make us feel emotionally safe during a crisis.

These traits are just a few that describe the people who nurture a safe space. Cultivate these small behaviors each day to be the safe space everyone needs!
