Powerful Habits You Can Do to Grow Spiritually

Have you ever had a moment in life when you were so angry and hopeless it felt as if nothing great would come along the way? Or maybe you were anxious and frustrated that you started questioning everything around you?

Spiritual wellness equips us with a deep feeling of purpose, connection, and meaning. However, it’s natural to lose sight of these foundations when dealing with hardships. 

When difficulties make coping seem impossible, growing and refilling our spiritual tanks is as essential as eating healthy meals and maintaining our mental health.

Spiritual Tank

Though the term Spirituality has taken different interpretations over time, Ghaderi and his colleagues 2018  describe the term as a life full of purpose, excellence, and self-awareness that create harmony between the various social aspects of man. This balance between forces has made spiritual wellness achievable.

Refill your Tanks. 

Many have discovered ways to grow or refill their spiritual tanks when dealing with loss, pain, and grief. 

Are you feeling spiritually low recently? Grow your tank by doing these simple activities each day!

Say a prayer each day. 

You don’t have to wait for the right moment to say a prayer or give worship. Learn to give praise and thanks while doing the dishes or on a morning walk. Prayer does not cost you anything. It may be the easiest way to feed your spirituality.

Be thankful for your blessings. 

Many are so focused on the items they do not have that they overlook the attractive opportunities and blessings. Stop feeding envy and jealousy, and start appreciating the little and big things in life!

Read different spiritual books. 

Spiritual books offer a different perspective when it comes to life’s tragedies. Read articles, books, or excerpts that provide hope and enlightenment. With the internet just within our reach, access to spiritual guidance has never been this convenient!

Examine your thoughts and feelings.

Spiritual healing starts when you start looking within. Pause and reflect on your past experiences, feelings, and thoughts. Have you been feeling okay? Is there someone you’re trying to forgive or a situation you want to get past? Looking inward allows you to control the part of you that needs healing.

Explore new places.

You don’t have to book a flight to go somewhere new. Visit that unique museum everyone’s been posting about! Or maybe you go to that newly-renovated park near your village. Our spiritual health is renewed when we feel excitement and enjoyment.

Find meaning in experiences.

From the moment you are born, your days are already numbered. So start appreciating your life’s simplest moments and opportunities because no one promises the next. Learn to enjoy life and its mishaps because these are your greatest teachers.

Find your happy place.

Don’t waste your time trying to find happiness in places you don’t belong in. Stop trying to fit in tight spaces that were never meant for you. Find your own space! Find your happy place, which feels in tune with your heart.

Serve a little each day.

You don’t have to be in a fellowship or an organization to serve. Serve in small ways! You can offer to do the groceries for your parents or even help your brother with his homework. There is no shortage in the methods to be of service to others, so give a helping hand to someone today!

Keep calm and take control. 

It’s not true that we’ve lost control of life when we’re at a point of spiritual distress! Your willpower is never lost. All it takes is a little effort to feel in control again. Start a mindful practice to help you stay grounded and present at the moment.

 

Full Tank 

Many overlook the value of spiritual health. They think that to be physically fit and mentally healthy is enough to sustain them through life’s adversities. But that’s never enough.

Spiritual health is just as valuable as physical and mental health. It is the tank that lifts us from the ground and will save us when we drown. It is our reservoir of purpose and meaning, and without it, who knows how much more we can take before we break. 

Nurture a lifestyle around your spirituality, and dedicate yourself to constantly refilling your spiritual tank because this is your foundation for a life rooted in purpose and meaning.
